GRP-Definition

What is GRP?

GRP stands for Gross Rating Points, and is a measure the size of the audience reached by your campaign. GRP places the campaign’s reach in relation to the frequency of contact with an audience in order to provide an indication of the campaign’s visibility. GRP is used in order to compare and optimize the visibility of campaigns in various media formats.

Method of calculation

GRP = net reach (in %) x average number of contacts

Example calculations

  1. A campaign in a given media format achieves a net reach of 80%. Over the campaign’s duration, the audience comes in contact with the campaign an average of 12 times. The GRP is thus 960.

80% x 12 average contacts = 960 GRP
