Wall AG, international street furniture supplier and outdoor advertiser, equipped the surrounding area of the Olympic Stadium in Berlin with eight highly modern toilet facilities. In the presence of Thomas Härtel, Secretary of State for Sport, Klaus-Dieter Gröhler, Councillor for Building and Construction in Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf, and Peter von Löbbecke, Executive Director of the Olympiastadion Berlin GmbH, Daniel Wall, Chief Executive Officer of the Wall AG, handed the facilities to the district Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf and the Senat of the Interior and Sport. The investment, which amounts to € 1,3 Million, as well as the cost-free cleansing and maintenance of the facilities are refinanced by built-in advertising spaces.
In addition to two toilet facilities close to the eastern gate of the stadium, the company built three handicapped-accessible toilets and five urinals and thus doubled the utilization capacities for the visitors of the numerous events which take place in the stadium. In the future 150 people can use the facilities at the same time.
“The Olympic Stadium is expecting a summer full of happenings. Ten thousands of people will visit events like the cup finals, the athletics world cup or big concerts. Thus, we reacted to the increasing demand and are happy to contribute with our high-quality facilities to a visitor- and citizen-friendly capital, equipped for the disabled”, said Daniel Wall, Chief Executive Officer of the Wall AG, on the occasion of the handover.
The handicapped accessible city-toilets of the Model 2=1 belong to Wall’s most modern city furniture design line “Intelligent Series” (Design: GK Sekkei, Tokio). Like all other products of this line, it convinces the consumer with an elegant appearance and a contemporary range of functions. Corresponding to the Wall AG’s quality demands it is made of premium materials, like aluminium, high-grade steel and security glass. The facility was designed for high-frequented locations. The structure consists of two cabins, which, within a few seconds, can be converted into a bigger room through a flexible partition. Thereby, they can comfortably be used with a wheelchair. Furthermore, the facilities are fully automatic, self-cleaning, space-saving and accessible twenty-four-seven.
In 2008 Wall’s City-Toilets gained the signet “Berlin barrier-free”, which labels localities, which can also be used by people with different disabilities.
