Suitable for wheelchairs, fully automatic, self-cleaning – these striking features are combined in Wall AG's city-toilet 2=1 which also fascinates by its timeless and elegant design. Since September 2006 two WC-facilities are to be found at Lübeck's market-place. A first evaluation of the frequency of users has confirmed the urgent demand for the high-tech-lavatories and the great acceptance enjoyed by the facilities. Since they were installed in September 2006, about 73.000 users frequented the lavatories, 37.000 of them in the course of the last year. That amounts to 100 citizens and tourists daily making use of the facilities. "The maintenance and cleaning of public lavatories often confronts cities with financial and organisational problems," Daniel Wall, Chief Executive Officer of Wall AG points out. "With our city-toilets we offer an all-inclusive-package which comprises maintenance and cleaning. Because it was developed for locations with a high frequency of customers, the City-Toilet 2=1 offers a perfect solution for Lübeck's market place."
Within one body the city-toilet offers two stalls with a removable partition and thus allows increasing the frequency of users. If a wheelchair user or some other person with increased requirement for space opens the door using a euro-key, the partition automatically disappears into the rear wall. Now there is a spacious stall at his or her disposal, containing two bowls which can be reached from both sides. After use, the partition returns to its former position and floor and bowls are automatically cleaned, disinfected and dried. In addition, the city-toilets are cleaned twice a day by members of Wall AG's service team who also secure the disturbance-free functioning of the facility.
The City-Toilet 2=1 from the design line 'Intelligent Series' (Design: GK Sekkei) has already been awarded the Good Design Award 2005 of the Chicago Athenaeum. Convincing not just through its elegant design the facility by its patented usage also provides high comfort to wheelchair users. In consequence the toilet was recently awarded the signet "Berlin barrier-free" which distinguishes locations that are easily accessible for disabled persons.
