Berlin Friedrichstrasse underground station is becoming the showcase for a new form of digital outdoor advertising. From June 1, 2011 onwards, BILD, Europe's biggest daily newspaper, promotes its multimedia news on Wall AG's digital advertising spaces as an exclusive content-partner. Travellers view up-to-date content from the BILD iPad-App on 12 digital City Light Boards situated on the walls behind the tracks. As on the iPad, the animation shows a finger that sweeps over the BILD front page, enlarging chosen articles. Under the slogan "Never has your seatmate been more envious of your newspaper", the 30-second spots are screened every ten minutes as part of the infotainment-program of Wall AG. With this project, Europe's biggest daily paper breaks new ground in digital outdoor advertising and demonstrates how news can be told and lived multimedially today.
Christian Vogel, Head of Digital Innovation of Wall AG: "Digital outdoor advertising has an enormous potential for convergence with other digital media channels. The BILD iPad-App animation is the first iPad related outdoor advertisement which receives its content live from an Apple-App. As the quality of content for smartphones and tablets gets higher and higher, this is a hotbed of creativity for outdoor advertising campaigns. We are very open to new ideas."
Friedrichstrasse underground station, situated at the heart of the German capital, is an advertising location of the future.
