Wall AG to Expand Supervisory Board

Professor Jobst Plog to become new member

On January 1, 2009, Professor Jobst Plog has joined the supervisory board of international outdoor advertiser Wall AG.

After taking his law degrees, Professor Plog started his career as a lawyer in Hannover. In 1977 he joined the Northern German Broadcasting Cooperation (NDR) as head of the legal department, in the following years becoming one of the most influential figures of the German media scene. In 1991 Professor Plog was appointed chairman of the NDR, holding this office for 17 years. Among his many achievements is the integration of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern into the NDR as the fourth federal state to join the cooperation.

As Chairman of German federal television ARD (Consortium of German Broadcasting Cooperations) from 1993 to 1994, and again from 2003 to 2004, Professor Plog won back the games of the German Soccer League for federal television. He gave decisive impulses towards a reform of the consortium, thus contributing to securing the future of German federal television.

Professor Plog also played a key role in building up German-French television channel ARTE. He championed the establishing of the culture-focused, bilingual program, and held various presidential offices at the television channel. Since 2002, he acts as vice-president of ARTE’s member’s council. In 2002, he was awarded the order “Les Arts et les Lettres” for his achievements. Five years later, President Jacques Chirac, made him an officer of the legion of honour, thus awarding him the highest decoration of the French Republic. Moreover, Professor Plog has been awarded with the German Federal Cross of Merit, first class.

In the beginning of 2008, Professor Plog resigned from his chair at the NDR, aged 67. Today, he is a member of the board of trustees of ZEIT-Foundation, and Hertie School of Governance. Besides other activities, he is honorary professor for media law at the University of Rostock, thus sharing his life- and work-experience.

“With Professor Plog, we have won an experienced and far-sighted media professional to join our supervisory board” Hans Wall, chairman of the supervisory board of Wall AG, points out. “We are enthusiastically looking forward towards our future cooperation, and to Professor Plog’s suggestions concerning the strategic development of our company.”
