A new timescope was today inaugurated by Wall AG at Kurfürstendamm/Rankestraße close to the Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gedächtnis-Kirche (Memorial Church), in the presence of Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf's city councillor for building and planning, Klaus-Dieter Göhler. The 'time-travel-telescope' offers the unique possibility to compare historical views of Berlin's emblematic Memorial Church with its present state. Thus citizens and visitors are able to experience on the spot the history of the church in a completely new way. Visual contents are provided by designers ART + COM. Wall AG donates the 0, 50 euro fee for three minutes use of the timescope to the campaign for the refurbishment of the bell tower. The innovative timescope technique, developed in cooperation between Wall AG and ART + COM, is based on a combination of a live cam and a binocular interface. The time-zoom-button enables the user to take a trip through time and space and to re-live the historical changes of his surroundings. Currently four timescopes are operating in Berlin. Besides the one at the Gedächtniskirche, there is one at Schlossplatz and two more at Zitadelle Spandau.
"The Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gedächtnis-Kirche is an internationally renowned landmark of the city of Berlin, symbolizing the desire for peace and the determination of the citizens to rebuild their city after the destructions of war. The church is popular with citizens, and a tourist hot-spot. By installing the timescope on Breitscheidplatz, we aim at informing people about the building-history of the church and at rousing their enthusiasm for the rescue of the Old Tower", Daniel Wall, Chief Executive Officer of Wall AG points out.
Wall AG is a partner of the Memorial-Church-Foundation and gives generous support to the campaign "Save the Tower!". Besides financial donations, Wall AG supports the campaign with a substantial contingent of free advertising spaces. In addition four of Wall AG's mobile showcases for billboard advertising were installed around the church, to inform passers-by about the rescue campaign. By acquiring 500 CD's Wall AG supported a current fund-raising project. A benefit recording of the Song "Für mich soll's rote Rosen regnen" ("Make it rain red roses on me") produced by popular artists and celebrities. Proceeds from the sale of the CD will be donated for the refurbishment of the tower.
