Wall AG opens 2008 fountain season

Launch in Viktoria-Luise-Platz square (Schöneberg)

“Let the water flow!” was the motto for the fountain in Viktoria-Luise-Platz square in Berlin-Schöneberg at the opening of this year’s Berlin fountain season. Attended by numerous guests and neighbors, Berlin’s State Secretary for the Economy Dr. Jens-Peter Heuer, Mayor of the Borough Ekkehard Band and Daniel Wall, Chairman of the Wall AG Board, started the first of around 80 fountains sponsored by Wall AG with the push of a button.



Traditionally, Wall AG celebrates this event with a street festival for the neighbors and visitors, welcoming the new fountain season with music and entertainment for young and old. As every year, the service team of the company had cleaned the monument-listed fountain for this event as well as the square – the greenery was tidied of garbage and graffiti was removed from waste bins, benches and colonnades.



In 1999, Wall AG started the sponsoring of fountains for Berlin and Potsdam, which comprises both the cleaning as well as the maintenance of such installations. Meanwhile, the company invests some EUR 400,000 for this commitment every year. Many fountains have already been refurbished and overhauled completely.



“Fountains are also a vital feature in the face of a city. Their social importance as a meeting place for neighbors and tourists is highly visible in the spring and summer months. They reflect the quality of life in public urban space “, said Daniel Wall, Chairman of Wall AG Board.



The takings of the fried-sausage sale were donated by Wall AG once more to the Christian Children and Young People’s Charity “Die Arche e.V.”. Since its foundation in 1995, this charity has been offering more than 600 youngsters in Berlin a variety of worthwhile leisure-time activities every day and is thus helping to counteract social deficits.
