Free internet access for everybody: To this end, Berlin based street furniture specialist and outdoor advertiser Wall AG today inaugurated a cost-free WiFi service for citizens and tourists at more than 20 locations across Berlin, covering the liveliest spots of the German capital. For a start, the free WiFi is provided until the end of August. The easy-to-use service will thus be available all summer long: At each of the Wall WiFi spots, users can download Wall AG's new WiFi app for iOS and Android to their smartphone or tablet. Once registered, they may access the internet free of charge via the Wall WiFi spots across the city. Those without smartphones can register online to use the cost-free service.
At a press meeting today, Daniel Wall, Chief Executive Officer of Wall AG, and Christian Vogel, the company's head of innovation, demonstrated the easy-to-use WiFi spot. Daniel Wall: "Our cost-free WiFi app is a great opportunity for cities to offer free internet access to their citizens and visitors. In the competition for tourists, such a service represents an important criterion and will soon become a must-have for cities."
Christian Vogel added: "The WiFi system which we have started today is the result of a substantial development effort by our company. The WiFi service is a key innovation for our intelligent waiting shelter Avus and our bluespot system. The app enables tourists in Germany to use the service without roaming. It was our aim to create a system that is quick and easy to use: just download the app and get started."
The intelligent waiting shelter Avus is distinguished by numerous innovative functions (WiFi service, dynamic displays, Berlin-pilot, charging points for mobile phones, heatable bench). Thus, the attractiveness of bus or tramway stops is significantly enhanced, and the passengers enjoy a higher comfort level. At the same time, an optically invisible WiFi network can be established, providing full coverage of a city's tourist areas.
